Description

Waypoint's client is seeking a Systems Engineer III (Secure Wireless) to support secure communications and Signal Modernization efforts within a tactical network environment. This role provides engineering support across the lifecycle of secure wireless systems, serving as a bridge between development, testing, and fielding activities.

The selected candidate will support secure baseline development, testing, and deployment, with a focus on Commercial Solutions for Classified (CSfC) architectures and secure network integration.

Responsibilities

  • Support systems engineering and development efforts by testing emerging technologies and software for integration into secure wireless baselines.
  • Engineer test networks and develop formal test plans and performance testing threads.
  • Support configuration and capability management, including documentation and software configuration control across multiple baselines.
  • Validate system updates and releases resulting from Post Deployment Software Support (PDSS) activities.
  • Provide field support through direct coordination with Field Support Engineering teams, including troubleshooting and issue resolution.
  • Deliver train-the-trainer instruction to support successful system deployment and adoption.
  • Develop technical documentation, including network diagrams (MS Visio) and Detailed Technical Procedures (DTPs).
  • Perform advanced network and client troubleshooting using logs, system messages, and monitoring tools.
  • Support acquisition activities by reviewing technical specifications, mission needs, and contractor proposals.
  • Conduct technical evaluations of network performance, system integration, and architecture strategies.

Required

  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Active Secret clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Testing, or a related field (or additional 7 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree).
  • Minimum 6+ years of tactical network systems engineering experience.
  • Experience supporting secure wireless or tactical network systems.
  • Experience designing and implementing LANs, VLANs, and end-to-end network architectures.
  • Experience with RF engineering and tactical voice/data transmission systems.
  • Experience with CSfC architectures and secure network configurations.
  • Technical expertise in:
    • Cisco IOS, Aruba OS (Wireless), Palo Alto Networks OS, VMware
    • VPN, IPSec, PKI, Certificate Authorities, Firewalls, Active Directory
    • Windows Server and Windows 10/11 environments
    • Network monitoring and analysis tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Splunk, Wireshark, SNMPc, PacStar IQ-Core)
    • Routing and troubleshooting virtualized environments

Desired

  • Experience supporting WIN-T or Tactical Network Configuration Items (CIs) and architectures.
  • Experience with Signal Modernization products, including Small Form Factor Wi-Fi and SWMRE.
  • Experience supporting DoD acquisition and engineering evaluation activities.
  • Experience developing technical procedures and system documentation for fielded systems.
