About the role

Position Summary

The Talent Acquisition Specialist – North America is responsible for managing the end-to-end recruitment process across Master Drilling’s North American operations, specifically Raise Bore Operators. This role partners closely with operational leaders, technical managers, and HR to attract and hire high-quality talent across a range of functions including operations, technical roles, engineering, corporate support, and leadership positions. The position plays a key role in building strong talent pipelines, supporting workforce planning, and ensuring the company can attract skilled professionals in the competitive mining and heavy industrial sectors.

Key Responsibilities

Talent Acquisition & Recruitment

  • Manage the full recruitment lifecycle including sourcing, screening, interviewing, offer management, and onboarding coordination.
  • Recruit for a variety of positions including:
    • Operations and field personnel
    • Technical and engineering roles
    • Skilled trades
    • Corporate and administrative roles
    • Supervisory and leadership positions
  • Develop and maintain effective recruitment strategies to fill roles in remote project environments and corporate locations.

Candidate Sourcing & Talent Pipeline Development

  • Build and maintain proactive talent pipelines for recurring and hard-to-fill roles.
  • Utilize multiple sourcing channels including:
    • Professional networks and industry associations
    • Online job boards and LinkedIn
    • Employee referral programs
    • Direct outreach and passive candidate engagement
  • Maintain relationships with industry professionals, training institutions, and recruitment partners.

Hiring Manager Partnership

  • Collaborate with hiring managers to understand workforce needs and project timelines.
  • Develop clear and compelling job descriptions and recruitment strategies.
  • Provide guidance to managers on interview techniques, candidate evaluation, and hiring decisions.

Candidate Assessment & Selection

  • Conduct structured interviews to evaluate:
    • Technical skills
    • Industry experience
    • Safety awareness
    • Cultural fit and leadership potential
  • Coordinate interviews with site leaders, operational managers, and senior leadership.
  • Ensure consistent and fair evaluation of candidates.

Offer Management & Compliance

  • Facilitate employment offers including compensation discussions and employment agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant US and Canadian labor laws and employment regulations.
  • Coordinate pre-employment checks including background verification, medical screening, and certifications where applicable.

Onboarding & Integration

  • Support onboarding processes to ensure new employees are effectively integrated into the organization.
  • Coordinate with HR and operations teams for mobilization to remote project locations where required.
  • Monitor early employee engagement and retention.

Qualifications and Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.

Professional Certification (Preferred)

  • SHRM-CP / SHRM-SCP
  • CHRP or equivalent HR certification

Experience

  • 3–6 years recruitment or talent acquisition experience.
  • Experience recruiting in mining, construction, engineering, or industrial environments preferred.
  • Experience supporting multi-site or regional recruitment considered an advantage.
