A world class engineering and professional services organisation is seeking a Reporting & Tax Accountant to support its Africa operations. This role is well suited to an accounting professional with experience in large, multidisciplinary, project-based environments such as engineering, construction, infrastructure, or related sectors.

This opportunity is ideally suited to a CA(SA) with 2.5–4 years’ post-articles experience in Financial Management or Accounting, who is ready to take the next step in their career. The Reporting & Tax Accountant will play a critical role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with tax regulations, and adherence to global financial governance standards.

This role requires a detail-oriented finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, manages deadlines effectively, and can collaborate with both local and global finance teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports in line with IFRS and global reporting frameworks.
  • Manage tax compliance, including VAT, corporate tax submissions, and liaising with external tax advisors.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and internal reporting cycles.
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations and ensure adherence to internal control frameworks.
  • Partner with project, commercial, and operational teams to ensure accurate financial data.
  • Assist with internal and external audits, ensuring the timely submission of audit requirements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the finance function.

Job Experience and Skills Required:

  • Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)) is essential.
  • 2.5 - 4 years of experience in financial reporting, tax, or a similar accounting role.
  • Experience in engineering, construction, infrastructure, consulting, or other project-based professional services environments is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and South African tax legislation.
  • Understanding or exposure to tax regulations in other African countries would be an added advantage.
  • Experience in or exposure to operations across the African continent will be an added advantage.
  • Proficient in ERP systems and advanced Excel.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and jurisdictions.
  • High attention to detail, with the ability to work under pressure and manage competing deadlines.
