About the role

Description

  • Managing geotechnical engineering projects from initial planning through completion
  • Developing field exploration programs and laboratory testing plans for geotechnical investigations
  • Preparing proposals for geotechnical engineering services
  • Coordinating and overseeing field investigation activities
  • Collecting, sampling, and logging soil and rock materials during field work
  • Conducting research, performing engineering analyses, and preparing detailed geotechnical reports
  • Monitoring project budgets and schedules to ensure all requirements are met
  • Reviewing foundation and grading plans for compliance with geotechnical recommendations
  • Collaborating with civil engineers, structural engineers, architects, and construction managers
  • Working core hours Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with overtime as needed
  • Performing additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering (Master's degree preferred)
  • Professional Engineering license in the state
  • 5-15 years of relevant experience
  • Strong understanding of soil mechanics and laboratory testing methods
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with CADD software and Microsoft Office
  • Dependable, positive, and able to meet project deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with multiple concurrent deadlines

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Roanoke, VA.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $60.00/hr.
