About the role
Scion Technology has been engaged to conduct a search for an experienced Technical Engineering Manager, Physical AI Solutions for our client, a pioneering team pushing the boundaries of robotics in Boston! This is a full-time, direct hire position offering a hybrid schedule in North Reading, MA. *Exceptional remote candidates will be considered.
Position Overview
Spearhead the development of advanced physical AI solutions by leading a talented team of AI engineers working on groundbreaking robotic systems that navigate, manipulate, and interact with complex environments with unprecedented intelligence. Oversee the full lifecycle of innovative solutions, from concept and development to deployment and support, driving impactful products that operate reliably in demanding industrial environments.

Responsibilities
• Lead design and development of physical AI features like obstacle detection, object recognition, pose estimation, SLAM, and localization. • Utilize simulation tools (e.g., NVIDIA Isaac Sim, Omniverse) for data generation and testing. • Select and integrate sensors (RGBD, LiDAR, ToF) to meet application needs. • Oversee data collection, annotation, and training workflows for high-quality AI models. • Manage and mentor a team of AI engineers, promoting engineering best practices. • Drive features from concept to deployment, ensuring reliability in industrial environments. • Collaborate with R&D, hardware, software, and product teams; communicate complex concepts effectively.
Qualifications
• Proven expertise with sensor technologies (RGBD, LiDAR, ToF) and their trade-offs. • Hands-on experience with simulation platforms and physical AI techniques (SLAM, pose estimation, obstacle avoidance). • Strong programming skills in C++ and Python, with experience deploying AI models in production. • Background in developing and shipping real-world AI solutions for robotics or industrial automation. • Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-disciplinary collaboration skills. • Preferred: familiarity with vision-language-action models, motion planning, ROS2, and large-scale data pipelines.
Compensation & Benefits
This full-time position offers an annual base salary up to $350k, commensurate with experience, in addition to bonus potential and equity. The organization provides a robust benefits package that includes comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage in addition to paid time off.
