Job Summary
Aretum is seeking a skilled and highly motivated Technical Lead / Solutions Architect. As a Technical Lead / Solutions Architect, you will own end‑to‑end architecture, integration strategy, and alignment with VA enterprise standards. Due to the nature of our work as a federal consulting organization, employees may be expected to handle Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and must adhere to applicable safeguarding and compliance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Define VAEC‑aligned architecture (networking, containers, integration, security zones)
- Lead integration across VistA, Cerner, CDW, and APIs
- Oversee data flow design, system boundaries, and interoperability patterns
- Guide ATO boundary definition and control inheritance strategy
- Provide technical leadership across all engineers
Requirements
- Cloud Architecture: AWS (VPC, ECS/EKS, IAM, ELB, CloudWatch), multi‑account strategy
- Containerization: Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift fundamentals
- Healthcare Interoperability: FHIR R4, CDS Hooks, SMART on FHIR, HL7 awareness
- Enterprise Integration Patterns: API gateway design, event‑driven architecture, batch vs real‑time tradeoffs
- Data Architecture: Data flow modeling, schema design, data lineage, normalization strategies
- Security Architecture: Zero Trust concepts, network segmentation, encryption strategies, RBAC
- RMF Awareness: NIST 800‑53, ATO boundary definition, control inheritance models
- DevSecOps: CI/CD pipelines, artifact promotion, environment separation
- Performance & Scalability: Stateless services, horizontal scaling, high availability patterns
- Stakeholder Communication: Ability to translate architecture to VA stakeholders and clinicians
Travel Requirements
This is a remote position; however, occasional travel may be required based on project needs, client meetings, team collaboration events, or training sessions. Travel is expected to be less than 10% and will be communicated in advance whenever possible.
