Key Tasks
- Ensure the operational serviceability and functionality of critical response systems including CCTV cameras, video monitoring, video analytics, access control, facial recognition, tactical radios, license plate readers, mass emergency notification, and drone detection systems
- Act as the lead and primary point of contact for stakeholder awareness of systems status, procedural changes, onboarding of new systems, and contingency measures related to system outages
- Define performance standards for systems and users
- Perform regular quality assurance and quality control checks to ensure systems are fit for use, conform to requirements, and that operational requirements are being met
- Ensure work tickets are completed promptly, tracked, and followed up in a timely manner, with mitigating measures or contingency plans in place when required
- Facilitate training needs assessments, curriculum development, course delivery, and evaluation to ensure competency of all system users
- Act as the Authority lead for project development, working with stakeholders to determine future operational requirements for system design, use, and function
- Assist in RFP and contract development, make recommendations, oversee procurement of equipment and services, and ensure project timelines and contractual obligations are met
- Ensure systems interoperability and efficiency with on-site and off-site security and emergency response agencies
- Participate in security and emergency response training events as required
- Participate as a member of the Emergency Control Centre cadre during emergency response incidents
- Perform administrative, operational, research, and analytical duties; develop reports and recommend policies and procedures as required
- Track and report on industry trends relating to critical systems, including forecasting future developments and modifications
- Develop and maintain a system life cycle plan, including budgeting and maintenance projections for all critical systems
- Apply technical expertise in critical systems to support the review and analysis of incidents and events
- Represent the organization in meetings, project groups, and conferences
- Participate in special projects as required
Key Qualifications
- College or university degree in public safety, aviation management, security management, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of related experience working with critical operational systems such as CCTV, video monitoring, access control, video analytics, facial recognition, tactical radio systems, and licence plate readers - the focus of this role is the technology so having hands-on and deep technical knowledge is a must
- Experience working with mass emergency notification systems and drone detection systems and experience performing quality assurance audits, compliance audits, gap analysis, and formulating related reports
Qualifications
- Demonstrated airport security operations experience
- Sound knowledge of airport and airline operations
- Bilingualism in English and French
- Strong communication, customer service, problem-solving, negotiating, and time management skills
- Ability to develop, coordinate, and deliver training programs and presentations
- Ability to research and write technical documents and prepare clear, accurate, and concise reports, procedures, and instructional material
- Experience delivering security technology projects in a collaborative, multi-stakeholder environment
- Experience participating in an RFP process
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Valid driver's licence (Ontario Class G or equivalent) with a driver's abstract issued within the last month
- Ability to successfully obtain a Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC) security clearance
- Ability to successfully obtain an Airside Vehicle Operator Program (AVOP) permit (D)
Compensation
This is a Unionized position
Salary Range: $97,777 to $110,516 per year in accordance with the current Collective Agreement (July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2028 rates).
