Technical Manager – Electrical Engineering & Power Systems (Solar, Wind & BESS)

Location: Germany or Austria (Hybrid / Project Travel Required)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Technical Manager in Electrical Engineering & Power Systems to support the development, engineering, and delivery of large-scale solar, wind and BESS projects across Germany and Austria.
This role is ideal for a technically strong electrical engineer with experience in renewable energy infrastructure, grid integration, and power system design who can lead technical strategy across multiple projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for utility-scale solar PV, BESS, and wind projects throughout development and execution phases
• Lead electrical engineering design, including HV/MV systems, substations, transformers, protection systems, and grid connections
• Manage grid connection processes with TSOs/DSOs and support grid compliance studies
• Oversee electrical design reviews, technical specifications, and EPC contractor deliverables
• Support project teams during permitting, procurement, construction, and commissioning
• Coordinate with internal engineering teams, external consultants, and grid operators
• Ensure projects meet German and Austrian grid codes, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
• Provide technical input into project feasibility assessments and due diligence
• Support optimisation of plant performance, reliability, and grid stability

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems Engineering
• 8+ years’ experience in electrical engineering within renewable energy, utilities, or power infrastructure
• Strong experience with grid connection studies, HV/MV systems, and power system modelling
• Experience working on solar, wind, or BESS projects (utility-scale preferred)
• Knowledge of European grid codes and German/Austrian energy regulations
• Experience working with TSOs/DSOs and EPC contractors
• Strong project coordination and stakeholder management skills
• Fluency in English and German

Desirable

• Experience with PSS®E, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSCAD, or similar modelling tools
• Experience with grid compliance, dynamic studies, and protection coordination
• Chartered / professional engineering certification
