Position Summary
The Technical Marketing Manager - Aerospace & Defense is a key leader in shaping and executing the marketing strategy for Tektronix’s focus on the Defense Modernization megatrend, particularly within aerospace, military, and government sectors. This role is central to creating effective marketing initiatives for defense-focused technical solutions and requires collaboration with various teams including Business Development, Sales, Product Marketing, and Channel to craft compelling messaging, clear positioning, and effective go-to-market plans that resonate with customers in the defense and government sectors across the Americas.
We are looking for an exceptional candidate who not only has a strong technical background but also a nuanced understanding of defense procurement and modernization trends. The ideal person will have experience articulating complex technical capabilities into unique market value for defense professionals.
Salary Range
U.S. Base Salary Range: $140,000 - $160,000 per year (target)
Salary reflects the specialized nature of defense sector marketing, knowledge of federal/military/government processes, and competitive compensation benchmarks in the U.S. technology sector.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Segment Leadership • Lead the creation of the aerospace & defense marketing strategy for the Americas. • Identify and define priority use cases, buyer personas, influence maps, and procurement paths for defense. • Leverage market intelligence to inform product positioning, content development, and campaign strategy.
Go-to-Market & Messaging • Develop engaging and technically accurate messaging frameworks tailored to defense/government priorities. • Collaborate with Product Marketing, Engineering, and Solutions teams to showcase the unique value offered to defense stakeholders.
Defense-Focused Demand Generation • Coordinate multi-channel demand generation campaigns aimed at defense and government segments, including webinars, education, account-based marketing, and digital efforts. • Work alongside field and partner marketing to adapt campaigns for key defense markets.
Sales Enablement & Technical Content • Create defense-specific marketing materials such as playbooks, battle cards, solution briefs, white papers, and technical webinars. • Conduct training sessions with sales teams and partners to ensure they understand messaging and competitive advantages.
Cross-Functional Collaboration • Collaborate closely with Business Development, Government/MIL sales teams, and Product Management to align strategies and execute plans. • Incorporate feedback from field teams to continually enhance segment focus and campaign success.
Market & Competitive Intelligence • Monitor technological trends, competitive actions, and government procurement priorities to stay ahead in the defense sector. • Provide valuable insights and recommendations to leadership and product teams.
Metrics & Performance Tracking • Establish and report on key performance indicators such as pipeline influence and lead generation effectiveness.
Qualifications
Required • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Engineering, Business, or a related field. • 6+ years of experience in technical marketing, particularly in the B2B technology sector with a focus on defense/government. • Proven experience marketing technical solutions to regulated markets such as aerospace and defense. • Strong communication skills with an emphasis on technical storytelling. • Ability to work within cross-functional teams and influence others effectively.
Preferred • Familiarity with defense procurement processes, including DoD RFP cycles and engagement with prime contractors. • Knowledge of modernization megatrends affecting the defense sector. • Success in executing segmented ABM and defense-related marketing campaigns. • Experience with marketing tools like Salesforce CRM and analytics platforms.
