This is an opportunity for an engineer to move into a customer-facing, commercial role while staying close to the technical and project delivery side. Based primarily in the office, you’ll focus on developing new business while working with an experienced engineering team on automation, robotics, and vision solutions.
This role would suit an engineer who enjoys engaging with customers and wants to develop a career in technical sales.
Your New Role
As a Technical Sales Engineer, you’ll drive new business across robotics distribution and bespoke vision solutions. The role is primarily office-based, involving proactive outreach to potential clients, alongside some client meetings and site visits.
You’ll engage with customers to understand their needs, develop tailored solutions with internal teams, and manage projects through to delivery.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Proactively generate new business through outbound outreach and relationship building
- Identify customer needs and develop tailored technical solutions
- Prepare proposals and quotations with engineering teams
- Manage projects from order through to delivery
- Liaise with internal and international engineering teams
- Gather and communicate detailed technical requirements
- Attend occasional client meetings, site visits, and industry events
What we are Looking For:
- Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electronic, Automation or similar)
- Experience in a customer-facing engineering or technical role (sales experience beneficial but not essential)
- Strong communication skills and commercial awareness
- Ability to manage multiple priorities
- Interest or experience in robotics, automation, or vision systems
- Self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable with outbound client engagement
- Full driver’s licence
