About the role

About

Our client is an established manufacturer of components, blowers, and fans engineered into mobile HVAC systems for transit buses, agricultural equipment, marine vessels, material handling, and other industrial OEM applications. They are a respected name in their niche, and they are building the sales team as a long-tenured VP transitions into retirement.

This isn't a catalog sale. It's an engineered sale to engineering teams at Tier 1 OEMs. The right person knows how to walk into a customer's engineering group, ask intelligent questions about thermal loads, power constraints, and operating environments, and make recommendations that get their components specified into the final design.

What you'll do:

  • Manage and grow a portfolio of OEM accounts previously handled by the outgoing VP of Sales
  • Partner with Tier 1 customers' engineering teams to spec components into mobile HVAC systems
  • Travel 10 to 25% for customer visits, plant tours, and industry trade shows
  • Work cross-functionally with internal engineering, quality, and customer service to support the sale

What you bring:

  • 3+ years in technical or engineered sales (HVAC, motors, air movement, plastic injection molding, fluid power, pneumatics, hydraulics, or similar adjacent fields)
  • Engineering degree preferred (electrical or mechanical). Engineers with personality do exceptionally well here.
  • Comfort engaging other engineers in design conversations
  • Willingness to spend time on the manufacturing floor learning the product, the people, and the process

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Base salary: $120,000
  • OTE: $200,000+
  • Open-ended commission structure with enhanced new-business incentive in development
  • Medical, dental, vision, 401(k), tuition assistance, disability insurance

Why this seat is worth a conversation:

This is a niche industry where the average sales rep is over 60. The person who steps into this role has a clear runway in a company that is growing and actively building the next generation of its commercial team. Engineers who can sell are rare in this space, and the ones who do it well get rewarded.
