Technical Sales Manager - Truck body manufacturer
Area: Kew - Johannesburg
POSITION INFO:
HIGHLY SPECIALIZED ROLE WITHIN THE TRUCK BODY MANUFACTURING & HYDRAULICS SECTOR
Non-Negotiable Requirements:
• Proven sales experience specifically within: • Truck body manufacturing • Commercial vehicles • Hydraulics (Knowledge on hydraulic systems will be massively beneficial, but not as essential as strong truck body expertise) • Strong working knowledge of: • Tipper bodies (rear & side) • Flat decks and drop-side bodies • Curtain side/tautliner bodies • Fuel and water tankers • Rollback/recovery bodies • Crane truck bodies • Axle configurations and weight distribution • Hydraulic systems and components (Knowledge on hydraulic systems will be massively beneficial, but not as essential as strong truck body expertise) This is not a general sales role. The candidate must be technically competent and able to consult with clients on fit-for-purpose truck body solutions.
Role Overview:
• Drive new business development within the commercial vehicle sector • Proactively secure new dealership relationships • Conduct both technical and commercial consultations with clients to ensure fit-for-purpose solutions • Prepare accurate, technically sound quotations and proposals • Liaise closely with the workshop and production team to confirm specifications, feasibility, and scheduling • Coordinate with production regarding workshop capacity and job timelines • Communicate confirmed delivery dates to clients and manage expectations accordingly • Maintain continuous client communication throughout the build process • Provide after-sales follow-up to ensure customer satisfaction • Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships • Achieve agreed sales targets and contribute to overall business growth
Ideal candidate: someone confident, technically articulate, and commercially driven — ideally with an existing network within transport, construction, mining, or logistics industries.
