About the role
Overview
GovCIO is seeking a Technical Systems Analyst to ensure optimal operational performance and reliability of the Veterans Affairs Direct Upload (QuickSubmit) platform. This role emphasizes technical analysis, system performance monitoring, and proactive service enhancement over traditional help desk activities. The analyst will work independently, leveraging technical judgment to assess system behavior and collaborate with engineering and cybersecurity teams to bolster platform stability and user experience.
Responsibilities
- Monitor, evaluate, and report on the operational health and performance of the Direct Upload service.
- Conduct thorough root cause analyses on system issues and develop long-term corrective strategies.
- Create and maintain dashboards, alerts, and operational analytics to enhance platform visibility and proactively detect anomalies.
- Act as a subject matter expert (SME) on platform behavior and operational integrity.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to refine workflows, enhance reliability, and optimize service performance.
- Review system logs, metrics, and telemetry data to diagnose complex technical issues.
- Support access governance by maintaining role-based access models aligned with security requirements.
- Produce technical documentation, process improvements, and recommendations for platform maturity.
- Participate in cross-functional meetings, working groups, and improvement initiatives as a platform SME.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to discuss issue trends, user feedback, and opportunities to optimize the user experience.
- Support change management activities by reviewing release notes, validating functionality during updates, and reporting any post-deployment issues.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 1-3+ years of experience in systems analysis, application support, IT operations, or platform monitoring.
- Strong analytical skills, with experience in using logs, system metrics, and monitoring tools.
- Experience with ticketing or workflow tools (such as ServiceNow, Jira, Remedy).
- Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
- Understanding of access control concepts, audit requirements, and security best practices.
- Familiarity with ITIL principles and service management frameworks.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Experience supporting enterprise or federal systems.
- Familiarity with ITIL, DevOps, or continuous improvement frameworks.
- Exposure to monitoring/observability tools (such as Splunk, CloudWatch, Dynatrace).
- Ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts across teams.
