As a first-tier supplier to F. Hoffmann-La Roche Ltd. in Basel and Kaiseraugst, we seek a motivated Technical Writer for a 10-month temporary assignment. Advances in AI, data, and computational sciences are transforming drug discovery and development. Roche’s Research and Early Development organisations at Genentech (gRED) and Pharma (pRED) leverage these technologies to accelerate R&D. The Computational Sciences Center of Excellence (CS-CoE) unifies efforts to harness data and AI to deliver innovative medicines.

The Portfolio & Operations team drives CoE core operations, portfolio strategy & management, administration, budget planning, vendor management, procurement, and informatics operations including cloud & software spend management. This role supports transitioning to a unified, scalable "One Source of Truth" model by documenting internal processes focusing on clarity, transparency, and defined roles.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Partner with functional leads to translate complex workflows into high-quality documentation within Roche ecosystem (Google Sites, Drive, Shared Drives).
  • Document Portfolio Management & Strategy including core operations and AI/ML project lifecycle.
  • Map contract workflows and project intake tools for Contracts, Procurement & Licensing.
  • Detail procurement and vendor management interactions including GPU/Cloud compute onboarding.
  • Document global CoE training matrix and automated training processes.
  • Create content for centralized "Policy Hub" housing all CS-CoE policies.
  • Document cloud/software spend management, time reporting, and financial WBS strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Capture and formalize end-to-end operational processes ensuring clarity and logic.
  • Define roles and responsibilities (RACI) for accountability.
  • Standardize content structure and tone aligned with P&O vision.
  • Interview SMEs across Portfolio, Finance, and L&D to translate knowledge into guides.
  • Maintain and update Policy Hub and process repositories.

Must Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Communications, English, or related field.
  • 3–5 years experience ideally in Healthcare Life Sciences or Software Engineering.
  • Expert in translating complex processes into clear documentation.
  • Familiar with Markdown, version control (Git/GitHub/GitLab), and static site generators.
  • Detail-oriented with ability to map workflows into modular assets.
  • Systems-thinker converting strategy into tactical documentation.
  • Comfortable in dynamic environment managing multiple workstreams.
  • Expert in Google Workspace collaboration.
  • Fluent in English.
