Position Summary
Our client is seeking a full-time, experienced Technical Writer & Content Creator to join their high-performance team. You will play a key role in shaping the future of the Northern Virginia data centre community by delivering clear, accurate, and impactful content that supports resilient and sustainable solutions.
This role is responsible for creating user-friendly documentation that translates complex technical information into accessible materials. You will collaborate with engineering, product development, customer support, and other teams to produce manuals, guides, FAQs, and content that enhances user experience and product adoption.
Key Responsibilities
Content Creation
- Develop, review, update, and maintain comprehensive content for user manuals, technical guides, installation instructions, and related materials.
- Ensure all content reflects the latest product features and updates.
Content Simplification
- Translate complex technical information into clear, understandable content for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Collaboration
- Work closely with engineers, product managers, production teams, and other stakeholders to gather information and validate accuracy.
Content Dissemination
- Curate data and deploy best-known methods (BKM) to maximise content impact and accessibility across platforms and devices.
Key Team Job Tasks
- Write, edit, and format technical content including manuals, installation guides, release notes, FAQs, and online help.
- Tailor content to different audience levels and use cases.
- Organise and maintain information libraries, ensuring content is current and accessible.
- Use CMS/KMS platforms and version control systems to manage documentation workflows.
- Participate in product design and development meetings to stay informed on new features.
- Use authoring tools such as Microsoft Office, Adobe FrameMaker, MadCap Flare, Captivate, XML, and HTML to create content, workflows, and storyboards.
- Leverage graphic design and multimedia tools to create illustrative content.
- Ensure all content complies with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Stay current on best practices in content development, DAM/MAM, and metadata tagging (including AI-driven tagging).
Key Competencies
- Servant-leadership mindset with a focus on building a comprehensive content distribution methodology.
- Experience with content management systems and aiWARE (or similar MAM platforms).
Education & Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, Computer Science, or equivalent certification.
- At least 10 years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency with documentation tools such as Microsoft Office, Adobe FrameMaker, or similar.
- Basic understanding of DAM/MAM principles and software development concepts.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.
