• Technical Writer and Spanish translator
• Location: Vienna
• Salary: Depending on experience
• Hours: 25h (Monday - Friday)
• SmartStream Technologies, a global software and managed services provider to the world’s top banks, asset managers, custodians and broker-dealers have a new opportunity for a technical writer (English) and translator (Spanish).

Responsibilities

• Creating user manuals and release notes, this means:
  • Write clear, concise, effective and high-quality software documentation
  • Help plan, design, develop, edit, publish and maintain documentation
  • Participate in sprints and discover the need for documentation changes or additions based on current development work
  • Participate in meetings (within the team and with teams from other departments)
  • Communicate with other departments (Product Management, Development, QA, Professionals Service, Support, etc.) to retrieve the technical details needed for documentation
  • Continually improve current documentation based on internal and external feedback
  • Help with Spanish translation when needed

Key Skills

• Excellent written, verbal and visual communication skills in English
• Advanced translation skills in Spanish
• Strong communication skills
• Team player, but can also work independently
• Interest in IT/software
• Familiar with working in a multilingual environment

Desirable Skills

• Good communication skills in German advantageous
• Familiarity with agile methods (SCRUM, KanBan,)
• Experience with producing documentation for software
• Experience with version-control tools (e.g., Subversion and BitBucket)
• Experience with bug-tracking and issue-sharing tools (Jira,)
• Experience with imaging software for screen capturing and illustrating
• Experience in Content management systems (e.g. MadCap Flare)
• Experience in translations

Qualifications

• Minimum BA/BS degree in Technical Writing, Translation, Communications, Linguistics, OR related field
