About the role

The Role

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Technical Writer to join our Engineering and Product Development team at ADASI. This role is pivotal in supporting the development, deployment, and sustainment of our unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and advanced defense platforms. You will be responsible for creating, organizing, and maintaining a wide range of technical documentation from user manuals and maintenance procedures to regulatory submissions and training materials ensuring they meet the highest military and aerospace standards. Your work will directly impact the safety, usability, and reliability of our cutting‑edge systems.

Key Responsibilities

Documentation Development

  • Create, revise, and maintain technical content such as:
    • Technical manuals (IETMs/IETPs, CMM, AMM, GSE manuals)
    • Maintenance and operational procedures
    • Installation and assembly instructions
    • Wiring diagrams and schematics documentation
    • Training handbooks and user guides
  • Translate complex engineering information into clear, accessible documentation for technicians, operators, and auditors.

Standards & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with military, aerospace, and international documentation standards, including:
    • S1000D
    • ASD-STE100 (Simplified Technical English)
    • ATA iSpec 2200
    • MIL-STD-38784 / MIL-STD-4005
  • Support airworthiness, configuration, and safety documentation requirements.

Content Management

  • Manage version control, configuration tracking, and publication records using the Document Management System (DMS).
  • Assist in structured content development using XML/SGML‑based tools.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Liaise with engineering, QA, integration, and field support teams to gather and validate source content.
  • Support training efforts through visual aids, presentations, and technical content.
  • Coordinate with translation teams for multilingual technical documentation.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelors Degree in Technical Communication, Engineering, Aerospace Technology, English, or related field (REQUIRED)
  • Master’s Degree or specialized training in Aerospace Documentation or Military Technical Writing (PREFERRED)

Experience

  • 5 years in technical writing within the aerospace, defense, or UAV industries
  • Hands‑on experience with IETM/IETP creation and S1000D‑based documentation
  • Familiarity with interpreting engineering drawings and 3D models

Technical Tools

  • Adobe FrameMaker, Arbortext, Oxygen XML Editor, MadCap Flare
  • Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Illustrator, Visio
  • PLM and DMS platforms such as Teamcenter, Windchill, or SharePoint
  • Working knowledge of Simplified Technical English (STE)
  • Competency in reading engineering schematics, BOMs, and system architecture documents
