Role Overview
This job requires an active security clearance which can only be obtained with US Citizenship. Permanent residents/green card holders are NOT eligible.
TactWare is seeking a Technical Writer to support Fire Support Systems (FSS) programs. This role is responsible for reviewing, editing, and maintaining technical documentation and test artifacts to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with program standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and experienced in producing professional documentation in support of DoD or technical engineering environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Review technical documents and test reports for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with required templates and standards
- Edit and format documentation to ensure consistency, readability, and professional quality
- Coordinate with engineers, testers, and program personnel to gather and clarify technical information
- Support development of technical reports, procedures, presentations, and supporting program documentation
- Ensure deliverables are completed in accordance with customer and program expectations
- Scribe meeting minutes, action item lists, and Requests for Information/Action to ensure program accountability and progress
- Assist program execution by supporting program management with creating and maintaining documentation artifacts, organizing documents, and aiding in extracting needed data to aid decisionmakers
Required Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship (REQUIRED)
- Active Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain one
- Permanent residents and green card holders are not eligible for Secret Clearance
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- 3+ years of technical writing or documentation experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) acquisition programs
- Familiarity with engineering, testing, or system documentation processes
- Experience working with formal templates, standards, and controlled documentation environments
