Overview
We are seeking a skilled Technical Writer / Documentation Specialist to play a critical role in transforming complex technical and business information into clear, accurate, and user‑friendly documentation. In this role, you will collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams, subject matter experts, and stakeholders to create and maintain high‑quality project and system documentation. You’ll help ensure consistency with organizational standards, support project delivery, and contribute to effective knowledge sharing across the program.

What You’ll Do
Technical Documentation Development
- Develop, maintain, and manage comprehensive IT and system documentation.
- Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise materials tailored to diverse audiences.
- Create technical publications such as user guides, process manuals, and instructional documentation in collaboration with development, QA, and support teams.
- Maintain an internal documentation repository and lead special documentation initiatives as needed.
Quality Review & Information Gathering
- Review, edit, and enhance documentation including system designs, technical notes, and solution overviews.
- Conduct interviews and working sessions with subject matter experts to gather information and build structured, accurate content.
- Research technical artifacts such as diagrams, specifications, and reports to ensure documentation accuracy and completeness.
- Apply standardized documentation and quality practices to maintain consistency and integrity across all project artifacts.
Business Analysis & Requirements Documentation
- Lead or support business requirements gathering sessions with stakeholders and end users.
- Partner with business and technical teams to document functional and non‑functional requirements.
- Produce As‑Is, To‑Be, and other business analysis deliverables.
- Contribute to business process improvement efforts and support implementation of recommended changes.
- Ensure all documentation aligns with organizational PMO standards and established governance practices.
Stakeholder Communication & Project Support
- Serve as a key point of contact between project teams and users.
- Manage stakeholder expectations and prepare clear summaries and briefings for leadership.
- Work independently while collaborating effectively within a cross‑functional team environment.
- Support project coordination efforts by maintaining well‑organized documentation for planning and execution.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong organizational, writing, editing, and project coordination skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Visio, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Hands‑on experience with business and technical requirements analysis, business process modeling, meeting facilitation, and cross‑team coordination.
- Familiarity with SDLC methodologies is preferred.
- Experience supporting public sector or highly regulated environments is a plus.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CBAP, PMI‑PBA) are preferred but not required.
- Ability to successfully complete required background screening and security training.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Tallahassee, FL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $48.00/hr.
