Position Overview: ZenPoint Solutions is seeking a Technical Writer / Documentation Specialist to support a Federal Government public website. This role is responsible for creating and maintaining system and user documentation, developing training materials, managing the knowledge capture wiki, and producing all required contract deliverables. The Technical Writer / Documentation Specialist ensures the team can independently operate and sustain the website through clear, comprehensive documentation.
This position is contingent upon the successful award of a government contract and subsequent government approval.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain system and user documentation for the production, test, and backup websites
- Develop and deliver training materials for up to 8 employees (4 on web server hardware/software configuration and maintenance, 4 on content administration including addition, revision, and deletion of web content)
- Set up and maintain the knowledge capture wiki to store website-related information and facilitate knowledge transfer between the website support team
- Author comprehensive manuals, user guides, troubleshooting tips, and best practices covering all aspects of the system for the knowledge capture wiki
- Prepare the Monthly Status Report (MSR) by the 10th calendar day following each month, covering burn hours, work performance, personnel status, schedule adherence, security vulnerabilities, security scans, and all actions taken (Deliverables)
- Document major cyber security configuration changes, application upgrades, operating system upgrades, CMS upgrades, and application functionality changes as they occur (Deliverables)
- Produce technical support and maintenance logs on a monthly basis (Deliverables)
- Prepare modernization project status updates in coordination with the Project Manager (Deliverables)
- Draft Section 508 Compliance Confirmation certifications with each relevant website release
- Maintain documentation standards that comply with formatting and submission requirements
- Coordinate with all team members to capture technical details, procedures, and lessons learned
- Ensure all deliverables are submitted in the required formats (PDF/Word for reports, Excel/PDF for metrics, certification statements for compliance)
Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
- Candidate must be a United States Citizen and present proof of Citizenship, if selected
- 5+ years of experience as a Technical Writer in an IT or federal Government environment
- Demonstrated experience creating system documentation, user guides, SOPs, and training materials
- Experience with wiki platforms (Confluence, SharePoint, MediaWiki, or similar) for knowledge management
- Strong ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, user-friendly documentation
- Experience preparing recurring status reports and contract deliverables for Government clients
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat for PDF creation
- Familiarity with IT infrastructure concepts (web servers, databases, CMS platforms, security)
- Excellent attention to detail, grammar, and document formatting standards
- Experience working with cross-functional technical teams to gather information
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience documenting Drupal CMS administration and web server operations
- Familiarity with Section 508 accessibility standards and GPAT documentation
- Experience with GOVERNMENT, OIG, or federal law enforcement agency documentation standards
- SDLC documentation experience (requirements, design, test plans)
- Certified Professional Technical Communicator (CPTC) or equivalent credential
