About
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Technical Writer to support a major manufacturing facility in improving and standardizing documentation across multiple departments. This is a 6-month temporary assignment with the potential to transition into a long-term role in another capacity within the organization based on performance, business needs, and overall fit.
The ideal candidate will have strong technical writing abilities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work directly with production, engineering, quality, and operations teams to create and improve clear, accurate, and effective documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Review, revise, and improve existing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and operational documentation throughout the facility
- Work closely with department leaders, engineers, quality teams, and production employees to gather technical information and document processes accurately
- Standardize formatting, terminology, and document structure across departments
- Ensure documentation complies with company standards, safety requirements, and quality procedures
- Create new SOPs and process documentation as needed for manufacturing, maintenance, safety, and quality functions
- Maintain document control and revision tracking
- Assist with identifying process gaps and opportunities for improved clarity and efficiency in written procedures
- Support training initiatives by developing user-friendly instructional materials and guides
- Participate in facility walkthroughs and process observations to better understand operational workflows
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Technical Writing, English, Communications, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field
- Previous experience in technical writing within a manufacturing, industrial, engineering, or production environment preferred
- Strong understanding of SOP development and document control practices
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to understand technical processes and translate them into clear, concise documentation
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel
- Experience working with quality systems or ISO-regulated environments is a plus
Schedule & Employment Details
- Full-time, temporary 6-month assignment
