About the role

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced documentation professional to support a strategically important Data & Digital environment in Basel. In this role, you will transform complex operational workflows into clear, structured, and sustainable documentation that improves transparency, consistency, and accountability across the organisation.

You will work closely with stakeholders across operations, portfolio management, finance, procurement, learning & development, and vendor management. Your main objective will be to build and maintain a reliable documentation landscape that serves as a central point of reference for internal processes, roles, and standards.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys bringing structure to complexity, creating clarity across cross-functional teams, and developing documentation that is both practical and scalable.

Background

As part of the continued development of a cross-functional Computational Sciences environment, existing manual and fragmented ways of working are being consolidated into a more standardised and scalable operating model. To support this transition, high-quality process documentation is needed to ensure alignment, improve transparency, and establish a dependable single source of truth across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Capture, analyse, and document end-to-end operational processes across multiple functional areas
  • Translate complex workflows into clear, user-friendly, and well-structured documentation
  • Define and document roles, responsibilities, and ownership within operational processes
  • Standardise documentation formats, structures, and content across different workstreams
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and functional leads to gather and validate process knowledge
  • Create and maintain process guides, policy content, and operational documentation within the existing Roche ecosystem
  • Support the development of a consistent and sustainable documentation framework
  • Ensure documentation remains current, reliable, and aligned with evolving operational standards
  • Contribute to the creation of a central policy and process repository that improves accessibility and governance

Areas of Focus

Depending on priorities, documentation activities may cover topics such as:

  • Portfolio management and operational processes
  • Project intake and project lifecycle governance
  • Contract, procurement, and licensing workflows
  • Supplier and vendor management processes
  • Learning and development frameworks and training processes
  • Policy documentation and operational guideline structures
  • Financial processes, including budget-related workflows, cloud and software spend, time reporting, and WBS-related documentation

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelors degree in Technical Writing, Communications, English, or a related field
  • Around 3-5 years of experience in Technical Writing, process documentation, or structured business documentation
  • Experience in a healthcare, life sciences, software engineering, or similarly complex environment is highly advantageous
  • Strong ability to translate complex operational or manual processes into clear, actionable documentation
  • Familiarity with documentation-as-code principles, including Markdown, Git, GitHub, GitLab, or similar tools
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to structure complex workflows in a logical and modular way
  • Ability to understand strategic operational concepts and convert them into practical documentation assets
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced, and highly collaborative environment
  • Strong working knowledge of Google Workspace and collaborative documentation practices
  • Fluent English is essential

What We Are Looking For

We are seeking someone who combines strong writing and structuring skills with a process-oriented mindset. The ideal candidate is able to work across multiple topics at the same time, communicate effectively with different stakeholders, and build documentation that creates real operational value rather than simply recording information.

This role requires someone who can think both strategically and practically someone who understands how documentation can support consistency, governance, adoption, and long-term operational efficiency.
