The Bundesamt für Verfassungsschutz (BfV) is the domestic intelligence service of the Federal Republic of Germany and makes a significant contribution to the security of its citizens. We are looking for a Technical Analyst (m/f/d) for Cyber Defense to strengthen our team in Cologne or Berlin.

Responsibilities

As a Technical Analyst in Cyber Defense, you will support our team in investigating and analyzing cyberattacks, as well as in developing new methodological approaches.

Your responsibilities include analyzing metadata, patterns, and require working with large amounts of data. Stakeholder management with national and international authorities, NGOs, and social media also falls within your area of responsibility. Furthermore, you will contribute to the further development of analysis through the use of tools and AI.

Salary and Perspective

• Permanent employment in pay group 12 TV EntgO Bund (annual gross salary from €55,411 to €86,587)*, with the possibility of later civil servant status
• Permanent employment according to §12 II TVöD
• Transfer of civil servants up to A 12 BBesO A, provided the career path requirements are met
• Payment of an intelligence service allowance, a specialist allowance, and further salary increases may be possible on a case-by-case basis

*depending on the possibility of recognizing qualifications and prior experience

Your Profile

You hold German citizenship and possess:

• A completed degree (Bachelor/Diplom [FH]) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or a comparable technical-scientific degree with an IT focus, OR equivalent skills acquired through at least three years of professional experience in a role corresponding to the tasks described above, OR equivalent skills and experience due to relevant activities by providing proof of recognition as a "miscellaneous employee."
• Students who will obtain such a degree no later than twelve months after the application deadline can also apply.

We also expect:

• Basic knowledge in cyber defense, as well as in the analysis and visualization of large datasets (Data Science Basic Level)
• Knowledge of relevant technology components for Big Data applications or the willingness to acquire them
• Confident demeanor and prior experience in presenting technical topics are also advantageous.
