About the role

About

A highly respected manufacturers’ representative firm founded in the 1980s, with zero layoffs in its history, is hiring a Territory Manager to support and expand a portfolio of advanced test and measurement solutions across Florida. This is a rare opportunity to step into a stable, technically rich environment where you operate like a business owner, supported by a tenured team, strong manufacturer relationships, and a deep product portfolio used across aerospace, defense, and advanced manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Own and develop a defined Florida territory, building relationships with engineers, calibration labs, test facilities, and technical stakeholders across aerospace, defense, contract manufacturing, and related industries.
  • Guide customers through highly technical test and measurement challenges, helping them determine the right application and solution across a broad portfolio that includes RF and microwave, power, EMC, environmental simulation, and metrology equipment.
  • Manage and expand an existing customer base while identifying new opportunities.
  • Spend approximately 60% of your time in the field.
  • Understand applications, ask the right technical questions, and become a trusted resource over time.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

  • Founded in 1987 with zero layoffs in company history
  • Recognized by manufacturers as one of the top rep firms in the U.S.
  • Family-oriented culture with long employee tenure and no micromanagement
  • Operate like you own your territory, without administrative burden
  • Strong internal support structure, including technical leadership and office staff
  • Highly technical product portfolio across RF, microwave, metrology, EMC, and environmental testing
  • Access to top-tier manufacturers and a reputation that opens doors
  • Annual awards recognition and strong internal culture

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary ranges from approximately $100K to $150K depending on experience
  • Path to salary plus commission structure as performance ramps
  • 4 weeks PTO
  • 10 additional holidays
  • Office closed between Christmas and New Year’s
  • Total time off effectively around 7 weeks annually
  • Additional benefits details available during the interview process

Hardest Part of the Job

This is a technically complex, long-cycle environment. There is no plug-and-play motion. You will be expected to learn a broad portfolio of highly specialized equipment, understand customer applications, and manage multiple opportunities at different stages simultaneously. Larger opportunities can take a year or more to develop, requiring patience, curiosity, and the ability to build credibility with engineers and technical stakeholders over time.

The Right Background

  • Electrical engineering or mechanical engineering background preferred
  • Calibration lab, metrology lab, or test lab experience highly relevant
  • Experience working with test and measurement equipment or technical instrumentation
  • Technical military background such as Air Force PMEL strongly applicable
  • Early-career candidates with strong technical foundation are viable
  • Candidates without a degree must have meaningful technical experience, ideally 4+ years
  • Ability to understand applications at a high level and ask strong technical questions
  • NOT a fit: purely transactional backgrounds or candidates without technical exposure

Key Traits

  • Curious and inquisitive
  • Listens more than they speak
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and moving opportunities
  • Strong follow-through, including forecasting and deadlines
  • Comfortable building relationships in technical environments
  • Motivated, resourceful, and driven

Territory & Travel

  • Florida-based territory covering Tampa, Miami, and surrounding regions
  • Approximately 60% in the field, typically 3 days per week
  • Overnight travel expected about one week per month, including South Florida and occasional Puerto Rico travel
  • Bilingual capability is a strong plus
