Role Description:

The API QA Specialist is responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, security, and performance of APIs across the application ecosystem. The role focuses on designing and executing effective API test strategies, identifying defects early, and enabling seamless system integrations through rigorous validation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and execute manual and automated tests for REST and/or SOAP APIs.
• Validate API functionality, data integrity, error handling, and business logic Perform functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end.
• API testing: Create and maintain automated API test suites using tools and frameworks Execute negative, boundary, and edge case testing to ensure robustness.
• Validate API contracts, schemas, and versioning.
• Conduct performance, load, and stress testing for APIs where required.
• Collaborate with developers, product owners, and architects to clarify requirements.
• Analyse test results, identify root causes, and log defects with clear reproduction steps.
• Ensure API compliance with security standards (authentication, authorization, data protection).
• Contribute to continuous improvement of QA processes and test strategies.

Required Skills

• Experience Technical Skills Strong understanding of API concepts (REST, HTTP methods, status codes, JSONXML)
• Hands-on experience with API testing tools such as Postman, Swagger, Rest Assured, or SoapUI
• Experience in test automation using Java, Python, or similar languages
• Familiarity with CICD pipelines and test execution in continuous integration environments
• Knowledge of API authentication mechanisms (OAuth, JWT, Basic Auth, API keys)
• Understanding of databases and ability to validate backend data

QA Testing:

• Skills Solid grasp of software testing principles and methodologies
• Experience writing test cases, test plans, and test data for APIs
• Strong defect analysis and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to think through system integrations and dependencies

Salary Range:

CA$ 80,000 - CA$ 100,000 Per Year
