eCOGRA is seeking a dynamic, meticulous, hardworking Test Engineers with a strong technical acumen, to join our innovative Testing Laboratory environment in Cape Town. The candidate must have a strong ability to interpret technical requirements, work well under pressure and be deadline driven.

Duties & Responsibilities

System Testing & Validation

  • Perform functional, compliance, and performance testing on gambling devices and systems.
  • Apply relevant standards such as SANS 1718 and provincial and national acts, rules, regulations and requirements.
  • Document and report test results, defects, and recommendations.

Technical Analysis

  • Interpret technical specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and execute test plans and scripts tailored to each product.
  • Analyze system logs, data flows, and device behavior.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure all tested systems meet the requirements of the relevant Provincial and National Gambling Boards.
  • Prepare Test reports and certification documentation

Client & Vendor Engagement

  • Liaise with manufacturers, suppliers, and licensees to coordinate testing schedules.
  • Provide technical feedback and support during pre-certification and post-deployment phases.

Project Management

  • Manage multiple testing projects concurrently.
  • Track progress against timelines and regulatory deadlines.
  • Maintain detailed audit trails and version control of test artifacts.

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Technology (or equivalent diploma).
  • Minimum 2–4 years’ experience in hardware/software testing, preferably in the gambling industry or regulated technology sector.
  • Previous experience in the Gambling industry as a Technician an advantage.
  • Familiarity with C, C++, Java, .NET, and SQL is advantageous.
  • ISTQB certification preferred.
  • Strong analytical and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure.
  • Valid driver’s license and passport; willingness to travel for on-site testing.
