Position Overview
Skygauge Robotics is seeking a highly motivated Test Engineer to support the testing, validation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of our advanced drone systems. This role is hands-on and fully on-site at our Hamilton HQ.
You will work closely with production, operations, and R&D teams to ensure product reliability, maintain testing standards, diagnose system issues, and improve manufacturing and validation processes. The ideal candidate is technically strong, process-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced startup environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Define functional, electrical, mechanical, and system-level testing of hardware and software at various stages of product development.
- Define and build test and QI tools for production.
- Create QI procedure and documents for NPI, and maintain detailed test records, reports, and quality documentation for production and R&D.
- Collaborate with R&D team to execute test procedures on prototype validation and product iteration testing.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware, software, firmware, and electromechanical issues.
- Identify product reliability issues and recommend corrective actions through systematic RCAs
- Ensure testing processes follow safety and quality standards.
- Assist in maintaining calibration and readiness of testing equipment and tools.
- Contribute to process optimization using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Support production scheduling and testing throughput improvements.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in testing, manufacturing, or production of electromechanical systems.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for electrical and mechanical systems.
- Experience with building hardware validation, diagnostics, and repair processes and tools.
- Experience using test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, or telemetry systems.
- Strong organizational and documentation abilities.
- Understanding of quality systems, KPI tracking, and process improvement.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Strong safety mindset and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently in a startup environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the aerospace, robotics, or drone industry.
- Hands-on assembly and integration skills.
- Familiarity with embedded systems, sensors, and robotics hardware.
- Experience with production testing and manufacturing workflows.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles.
- Knowledge of Inventory management or production coordination experience.

- Must be willing to work fully on-site at Skygauge HQ in Hamilton, Ontario.
