Position Overview

Testing Engineer

Located at the Saint-Cyr-sur-Loire site, a major industrial site of the SKF Group (>1,500 employees), the ATF (Automotive Testing France) test laboratory has the skills and testing means necessary to evaluate the performance of many SKF products and to develop the test benches/equipment of tomorrow.

You will join the test center composed of 19 people.

You will work closely with various SKF Automotive Saint-Cyr units (product development, prototype service, analysis laboratory, factory), SKF Automotive worldwide (application engineers & other test laboratories), as well as suppliers and subcontractors.

In partnership with our clients, you contribute to the technological transformations of the automotive industry, to reducing its environmental impact, and you support SKF Automotive teams in implementing tomorrow's solutions.

Responsibilities

  • You realize tests and measurements mainly on bearings and components of the automotive industry.
  • You participate in projects to develop new test benches and equipment (needs collection, technical specifications definition, design and development, organization and planning of activities, commissioning).
  • You participate in the definition of tooling in collaboration with the design office and perform installation and debugging on the test bench.
  • You select sensors, program test benches and data acquisition.
  • You perform measurements on parts before, during and after tests.
  • You have knowledge of applications such as Labview, Python/C++ or LTspice.
  • You monitor equipment and perform calibrations and uncertainty calculations.
  • You contribute to and/or lead continuous improvement activities.
  • You participate in laboratory digitalization actions.

Qualifications

  • Generalist engineer with a preference for mechanical specialization.
  • You have skills in industrial drawing and mechanical design.
  • Ideally, you also master electrotechnics, sensor technologies and digital data acquisition chains.
  • You have knowledge in analog electronics and know signal processing tools.
  • You are attracted to field work and automotive mechanics.
  • You are organized, rigorous, autonomous and have good communication skills as well as team spirit.
  • You have a current technical level of English allowing communication with SKF entities worldwide and international clients, and to write reports in English.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Attracted by field work and mechanical testing, with a strong interest in tests, measurements and experimentation on automotive components.
  • Interested in mechanical design, analysis of physical phenomena and development of test benches in a collaborative technical environment.
  • Passionate about technology and curious to evolve in a multidisciplinary environment (mechanical, electrical, thermal, hydraulic, computer science...).
