About the Role
As Third Engineer Deck, you are essential to the safe and efficient operation of our vessels’ deck machinery and equipment. You’ll work on offshore projects worldwide, reporting to the Shift Leader Deck and First Engineer Deck, and collaborating with a skilled technical team. You will also have the authority to stop the job if safety or compliance is at risk, in line with the Allseas Integrated Management System.
Responsibilities
- Maintain independent watchkeeping duties and perform maintenance and repairs on deck and mission equipment under supervision.
- Act as deputy for the Shift Leader Deck when required by the Chief Engineer.
- Perform timely administration, including planned maintenance and statutory logbooks.
- Inform the Shift Leader Deck of any malfunctions or changes in deck or mission systems and equipment.
- Use and update safety procedures and documentation under supervision.
- Keep all personal documentation (passport, seaman’s book, medical certificate, CoC, and STCW training certificates) up to date and valid.
- Perform fault‑finding, execute and record corrective actions.
- Fulfill duties as indicated on the station bill, including ship security.
- Conduct accurate duty rounds and equipment inspections, and actively participate in handovers.
- On pipelay vessels, maintain production during pipelay operations and prevent breakdowns.
- On construction vessels, maintain operability of heavy lift systems and cranes, assist with ballast operations and monitor TLS/JLS systems as required.
Requirements
- Maritime engineering education and compliance with all STCW requirements.
- Minimum 3 years’ general deck engineering experience.
- Experience with deck equipment such as winches, deck cranes, lifesaving appliances, compressed air systems and hydraulic systems.
- At least a first experience on offshore construction, dredging or pipelay vessels.
- CoC with competency level III/1 “Officer in charge of an Engineering Watch” or higher, with no limitations.
- A2 level English proficiency (spoken and written).
- Computer literacy and ability to interpret technical drawings and documentation.
- Knowledge of pipelay processes, cranes, and hydraulics.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and results orientation.
