About

The Tower Internals Engineering Manager will lead the Tower Internals design engineering team on Engineering NPI, cost out, productivity, transactional, and fleet support efforts for the GEV Wind Mechanical Subsystem. The role works across Engineering Functions to identify strategic growth areas and resolve issues for the Tower Internals design team, collaborating closely with the Tower Structures design engineering team to release tower kits (drawings, BoM, and parts).

Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead a global team of engineers in all Tower Internals design aspects, make decisions on critical subsystem trade‑offs, and coordinate with other engineering functions to leverage natural synergies.
  • Create and maintain a culture of ownership & accountability for full‑lifecycle design of components and subsystems (e.g., NPI designs, supplier PAPPs, manufacturability, fleet support, pitch bearing cost) to deliver high‑quality tower designs for external and internal customers.
  • Own Tower Internals risk identification, quantification, and mitigation, including clear communication, prioritization, and execution of mitigation plans.
  • Manage product requirements definition and flow‑down, communicating outcomes that result in optimized and competitive product offerings.
  • Enforce prompt incorporation of lessons learned into designs, design practices, and methodologies.
  • Develop and own the next‑generation technical product roadmap.
  • Lead technical conversations with suppliers, customers, and third parties as a representative of GEV Wind and the Towers Engineering team.
  • Recruit, hire, and coach the Tower Internals design team toward continuous improvement and engineering excellence, focusing on safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Be accountable for team budget for training, travel & logistics (T&L), and safety, health & environmental (S&H) expenses.
  • Ensure all design/analysis documentation is complete and accurate (e.g., specifications, design practices, Bill of Materials).
  • Work cross‑functionally with Sourcing, Manufacturing, and Quality on supplier qualifications, NCRs, supplier deviation disposition, and all technical issues related to towers.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Physics, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in an engineering or technical position.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in technical leadership or people management.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle fast‑pace projects and changing work scopes.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States (no visa sponsorship now or in the future).

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience in wind towers or welded fabrications engineering design and/or validation.
  • Technical leadership experience including NPI, NTI development, problem solving & RCA resolution, method/tool development, etc.
  • Systems‑thinking ability to assess trade‑offs, evaluate risk, and optimize results.
  • Proven ability to drive process improvement, implement standard work, and apply Lean operating principles.

Compensation

  • Salary range: $131,700 – $219,300 (U.S. based positions).
  • Geographic differential of 110 %, 120 % or 130 % of salary may apply in certain areas.
  • Discretionary annual bonus eligibility.
