Responsibilities
- Assist the Transportation Hydraulics Lead in the development of strategic planning.
- Oversee technical project delivery and quality control.
- Support staff development and morale.
- Provide business development and marketing support.
- Serve as Project Manager / Hydraulics Lead on key projects.
- Administratively manage Transportation Hydraulics Group staff and technical service functions.
- Lead and coordinate hydraulics services with other business groups within the Pennsylvania/West Virginia Region.
- Participate in recruitment and train, develop, and manage personnel.
- Promote HDR through active engagement in professional organizations to increase industry visibility.
- Coordinate with area client managers and marketing staff to identify projects and contract opportunities.
- Coordinate with national business class leaders to leverage HDR resources to expand service offerings and grow market share.
- Direct and coordinate work of single or multidiscipline teams involved in the project.
- Coordinate with all subconsultants and the client.
- Keep project on schedule and within budget.
- Perform or ensure quality control for each project.
- Supervise highway/roadway design team or teams.
- Perform complicated design work on larger projects.
- Manage/lead/develop H&H modeling including 1D/2D hydraulic models for flood and transportation hydraulic projects.
- Manage/lead/develop engineering design including plans, specifications, cost estimates, and contract documents for water resources infrastructure.
- Lead/develop preparation of technical and non-technical reports and presentations including data visualization.
- Assist with business development activities including client relations, marketing pursuits, and project proposals.
- Work independently and plan, organize, and assist groups of small to medium size teams of professionals and technicians.
- Develop and implement HDR’s technology, standards, project delivery practices, equipment, tools, and training programs for project work execution.
Preferred Qualifications
- Project experience and existing relationships with DOT and municipal clients is a must.
- Must have technical proficiency preparing hydrologic and hydraulic analyses and reports, scour investigations, erosion and sediment control plans and reports, drainage, and stormwater management design, waterway and NPDES permitting, quantity & cost estimates, and specifications.
- Experience with standard drainage analysis and design packages including but not limited to AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation OpenRoads Designer, StormCAD, EPASWMM, XPSWMM.
- HEC-RAS 1D/2D and/or SRH-2D river modeling experience is preferred.
- ArcGIS Pro and HEC-HMS experience is preferred.
- Must have excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to support marketing efforts.
- Project experience and existing relationships with PennDOT, PTC, and Pennsylvania transportation clients.
- Local candidates are preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- 7 years related experience
- A minimum 2 years project management experience
- Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
- MS Office and MS Project experience is required (Access experience would be plus)
- Demonstrated leadership skills
