About the role
Overview
We are seeking a highly autonomous Traveling Project Manager to support the launch and ongoing execution of projects across 8 West Coast locations. This role will own planning, execution, and reporting across multiple concurrent sites, serving as the connective tissue between executive stakeholders and on-the‑ground teams. The ideal candidate thrives in ambiguity, can manage dependencies at scale, and is comfortable traveling as needed to ensure project milestones are met.
This role is critical to enabling repeatable, scalable site launches through disciplined planning, strong risk management, and clear stakeholder communication.
Key Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end project execution for multi‑site initiatives, from early planning through launch and stabilization
- Build and maintain project plans, milestones, sub‑gates, and dependencies using Gantt charts and PM tools
- Backward‑plan from launch milestones, incorporating bi‑monthly gates and sub‑plans to track progress
- Manage dependencies, trade‑offs, and risk across a growing portfolio (scaling from 3 to 9+ sites)
- Provide clear status reporting and performance updates to stakeholders; contribute to SOW‑based reporting
- Serve as the primary point of accountability for timelines, deliverables, and execution cadence
- Coordinate daily 30‑minute syncs with teams, ensuring all workstreams are tracked and organized
- Travel to each site approximately once per month, with flexibility for urgent, short‑notice travel as needed
- Act as a traveling PM capable of rapid on‑site engagement to resolve blockers and support launches
- Translate complex plans and data for multiple audiences—from executive stakeholders to site‑level teams
- Support data entry and daily project updates to ensure accurate, real‑time visibility
- Apply agile principles to iterate plans, manage change, and respond to evolving site needs
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in project management, operations, or multi‑site program execution
- CAPM required; PMP strongly preferred
- MBA preferred, or equivalent experience managing complex, multifaceted projects
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.)
- Hands‑on experience with:
- Gantt charts (intermediate to advanced)
- Dependency planning and trade‑off analysis
- Risk and contingency planning
- RACI matrices and structured PM frameworks
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects remotely with a high degree of autonomy
- Proven self‑starter who takes ownership, makes decisions, and operates independently
- Comfortable working in fast‑moving, startup‑style environments with limited playbooks
Preferred Background
- Experience managing multi‑site operations or launches
- Exposure to engineering, construction, infrastructure, or technical environments
- Strong data analysis skills with the ability to synthesize insights across sites
- Ability to comfortably “code‑switch” communication style between executive stakeholders and site teams
- Familiarity with agile planning principles (SDLC experience not required)
Travel Expectations
- Monthly travel to each assigned across Middle / West Coast sites (approximately 8 locations)
- Willingness and ability to travel on short notice for urgent project needs
