Tunnel Design Engineer

Linum Consult’s client is a world leader in construction and civil engineering. They are involved in a number of large projects internationally, employing thousands of people around the globe. Due to continued growth, they are looking to hire a Tunnel Design Engineer to participate in various tunnel engineering projects, from the commercial phase to contract completion. This role will be based out of their Paris office.

Responsibilities

• Using your knowledge of geotechnics, mechanics, and reinforced concrete, you will provide technical assistance and design solutions for underground infrastructure projects; both for excavations using traditional methods and by tunnel boring machines
• Carrying out digital modelling and analyses for tunnelling sites, addressing any design issues that may arise
• Liaising with site personnel and other engineering departments to ensure the smooth delivery of projects
• Conducting cost estimates and project calculations in conjunction with the Quantity Surveying team

Profile

• Engineering degree qualification, with a specialisation in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering
• At least 10 years’ experience in a design office or construction company with a strong history of tunnelling and underground works
• Previous experience in the costing and digital modelling of complex underground structures
• Technical knowledge of ground structure interaction software, such as: PLAXIS or CESAR, and structure calculation software, such as: Sofistik or Robot, and able to pick up new software quickly
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English and French
