UX/UI Designer
Rexall Pharmacy Group Ltd.
About the role
The Role
UX/UI Designer
Reporting to the Senior Director, AI Engineering and Transformation, the UX/UI Designer will own the end-to-end design of Rexall's new digital platform — from foundational design system through every patient-facing surface. This is a greenfield opportunity: you will establish the visual language, component library, and interaction patterns that define how millions of Canadians experience pharmacy care digitally. Your work will span pharmacy-led digital experiences including prescription management, loyalty, and e-commerce, ensuring the experience is optimized across all devices with particular attention to adaptive design principles that deliver seamless mobile experiences.
You will work directly with software engineers, the product team, pharmacy operations, and marketing to translate clinical requirements, brand standards, and patient needs into intuitive, accessible, and conversion-optimized experiences. Proficiency in Figma and design systems is essential; comfort designing for complex, regulated user flows and experience leveraging AI tools to prototype and develop proof-of-concepts for rapid iteration are expected. Familiarity with accessibility standards and responsive design is required.
This role is a core design contributor across Rexall's digital platform build, responsible for UX and UI output from initial concept through production-ready specifications. It requires managing concurrent design workstreams — across pharmacy, loyalty, and e-commerce surfaces — while collaborating closely with engineering, the product team, marketing, and pharmacy operations within a regulated healthcare environment and on fixed delivery timelines.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Design high-fidelity UI mockups, prototypes, and interaction flows across web and mobile surfaces, spanning pharmacy, loyalty, and e-commerce experiences.
- Produce user flows, wireframes, and low-fidelity concepts that translate complex pharmacy and clinical requirements into intuitive, patient-centered designs.
- Establish and maintain Rexall's digital design system — component library, typography, colour, and interaction standards — ensuring consistency and scalability across all platform surfaces.
- Partner closely with Engineering, Product, Marketing, and Pharmacy Operations to deliver data-informed, clinically appropriate, and on-brand experiences.
- Collaborate with developers and QA throughout implementation — participating actively in front-end and design verification to ensure the delivered product accurately reflects approved designs and meets usability, accessibility, and visual quality standards.
- Leverage AI-assisted design tools to accelerate prototyping and develop proof-of-concepts that support rapid iteration and stakeholder alignment.
- Conduct usability testing and incorporate patient feedback to identify gaps, validate design decisions, and continuously improve the experience.
- Present design work regularly to senior leadership/executives with clear rationale, advocate for user-centered solutions, and incorporate stakeholder feedback across engineering, pharmacy, and marketing teams.
- Work within Agile/Scrum delivery cycles, maintaining design deliverables that stay ahead of sprint development and support on-time product releases.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- University degree or College Diploma in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Interaction Design, or related discipline.
- 5+ years of UX/UI design experience across web and mobile, with a portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product design from concept through delivery.
- Proficiency designing for mobile is required, with demonstrated knowledge of adaptive layouts, platform-specific conventions, and touch interaction patterns across iOS and Android.
- Proven ability to build and maintain scalable design systems across multiple product surfaces; familiarity with documentation and governance tools such as Notion, Zeroheight, or Supernova is an asset.
- Experience designing regulated or complex transactional flows — such as healthcare, financial services, or e-commerce checkout — is strongly preferred.
- Mastery of Figma, including component libraries, auto-layout, variables, and token-based design; Adobe Suite proficiency (Photoshop, Illustrator) is an asset.
- Experience leveraging AI tools for prototyping, concept generation, and design workflow acceleration is expected, including tools such as Claude, Claude-powered artifacts, and Figma AI features (e.g., Make Designs, First Draft).
- Familiarity with UX research methodologies and tools is an asset.
- Comfortable working with diagramming and collaborative whiteboarding tools such as Miro, FigJam, Lucidchart, or Whimsical to communicate flows and end-to-end solutions.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments with Jira or equivalent tooling.
- Proven knowledge of WCAG accessibility standards and inclusive design principles.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to present and defend design decisions to cross-functional teams.
