Responsibilities

  • Design Ownership SOP Compliance

    • Own design deliverables from concept design to IFC drawings, strictly as per Co. Design SOPs.
    • Ensure full compliance with internal design checklists, review cycles, and approval protocols.
    • Act as the final technical authority before design documents are released to Projects and Execution teams.
    • Ensure designs are constructible, serviceable, and lifecycle‑optimized, minimizing site rework.
  • System Engineering Design Excellence

    • Lead design and engineering of:
      • HVAC systems (chilled water, condenser water, air distribution)
      • Water treatment and fluid handling systems
      • Pumps, valves, heat exchangers, AHUs, FCUs, TES, and allied systems
    • Perform and validate:
      • Heat load and thermodynamic calculations
      • Pipe sizing, flow, and pressure drop calculations
      • Equipment selection and system optimization
    • Apply strong fundamentals of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and metallurgy.
  • Piping Design Material Selection

    • Own the piping design philosophy, including:
      • Pipe sizing and routing
      • Pipe material selection
      • Evaluation of pressure, temperature, corrosion, and fluid compatibility
    • Ensure piping designs are aligned with site constraints, safety, operability, and maintenance access.
  • Design Review, Risk Control & Value Engineering

    • Identify design risks early and propose technically sound mitigation strategies.
    • Lead value engineering initiatives without compromising system performance or reliability.
    • Participate in internal and cross‑functional design review meetings.
    • Reduce execution‑stage deviations through strong upfront engineering discipline.
  • Cross‑Functional Client Coordination

    • Work closely with Sales, Projects, Procurement, and Site teams to align design intent with execution realities.
    • Provide technical leadership during consultant meetings, client discussions, and design presentations.
    • Coordinate with vendors and global OEMs for technical evaluation and approvals.
  • Technical Communication & International Client Interface Seminars

    • Demonstrate excellent spoken and written English communication skills, essential for:
      • Technical discussions with international clients, overseas consultants, and global OEM partners
      • Preparation and delivery of structured technical presentations and design walkthroughs
    • Lead in‑depth technical seminars, workshops, and training sessions, both internal and external.
    • Confidently handle technical QA sessions, whiteboard discussions, and long‑format seminars in English.
  • Design Documentation Compliance

    • Prepare and review:
      • Engineering calculations
      • Technical specifications
      • BOQs, BOMs, and IFC drawings
      • Design reports and as‑built documentation
    • Ensure compliance with ASHRAE, IS, ISO, and project‑specific standards.
    • Support audits, certifications, and design compliance reviews.
  • Team Guidance & Capability Building

    • Guide, mentor, and technically upskill Design Engineers and Senior Engineers.
    • Review design outputs with a coaching and quality‑focused approach.
    • Contribute to development of standard calculation tools, design templates, and SOP enhancements.

Key Qualifications & Preferences

  • Educational Background

    • B.E. / B.Tech / M.E. / M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering
  • Technical Expertise

    • Strong command over:
      • Thermodynamics
      • Fluid Mechanics
      • Heat Transfer
      • Metallurgy
  • Extensive Experience In

    • HVAC and building services design
    • Piping design and material selection
    • Pumps, valves, heat exchangers, air‑water systems
  • Proficiency In

    • AutoCAD / SolidWorks / Creo or equivalent CAD tools
    • Exposure to CFD / FEA tools (preferred)
