UX Writer/Content Designer

We are seeking a skilled and thoughtful UX Writer/Content Designer to join our team. You will be responsible for crafting clear, accessible, and user-centered copy across Empowered Futures' app and website, bridging the gap between design, functionality, and user understanding. The ideal candidate is passionate about purposeful communication, has a strong eye for detail, and excels at turning complex information into simple, intuitive language. This role ensures every word across our digital platforms is purposeful, consistent, and aligned with the communities we serve.

Key Responsibilities

• Write and edit UX copy for EF's app and website, including microcopy for buttons, forms, onboarding flows, notifications, and navigation
• Review existing content for clarity, tone, and usability, and recommend meaningful improvements
• Ensure consistency in voice, tone, and messaging across all digital platforms
• Support content structure and user flow improvements to enhance the overall user experience
• Collaborate primarily with the Design Team and Product Development Team, and with the Tech & Innovation Team as needed
• Align content with user needs and organizational goals across cross-functional initiatives

Requirements

• Background in UX Writing, Communications, English, Journalism, Marketing, Content Design, UX/UI Design, or a related digital field
• Strong writing and editing skills with keen attention to detail and consistency
• Moderate proficiency with Figma
• Proficiency using AI tools to support fast-paced content creation
• Understanding of user-centered communication principles and the ability to simplify complex information
• A portfolio of 2–3 projects or case studies demonstrating UX writing or content design work (personal or professional projects are accepted)

Preferred Qualifications

• Early-career or experienced professionals with a passion for UX writing and content design are encouraged to apply
• Bilingual in English and French is a strong asset
• Experience working within cross-functional or agile team environments
• Familiarity with content strategy or information architecture principles

This is a part-time unpaid volunteer position (4–6 hours per week). Volunteers are expected to attend regular team syncs on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5PM EST.
