UX/UI Engineer

Location: Lanseria, Gauteng area Total Package: Competitive Enterprise Digital Experience | Cloud Hosted Applications You will work within an environment that values clarity, simplicity, and consistent design across mission critical applications used across regions and time zones. This is a hands on role focused on designing and delivering user interfaces that are functional, accessible, and visually coherent. You will work closely with full stack engineers, product owners, and cloud teams to ensure that interfaces are not only attractive, but reliable, performant, and aligned to enterprise design standards. The Role You will design and refine user interfaces for cloud hosted applications, ensuring seamless experiences across the full product lifecycle. You will support product discovery, translate requirements into clear user journeys, and work alongside engineers to bring designs to life in production systems. Your work will directly support business critical operations in a high reliability, fast paced environment where usability, accuracy, and operational clarity are essential. Key Responsibilities • Design user interfaces for enterprise web applications running in Azure and AWS • Create wireframes, prototypes, user flows, and visual design assets • Support user research, usability testing, and discovery workshops • Translate complex operational processes into intuitive, user friendly designs • Develop and maintain design systems, pattern libraries, and component guidelines • Work with engineers to ensure smooth implementation of UI designs • Ensure designs adhere to accessibility, security, and performance standards • Optimise interfaces based on user feedback, analytics, and operational insights • Produce clear documentation for design decisions, patterns, and interactions • Collaborate with product, engineering, cybersecurity, and business stakeholders • Contribute to consistent user experience across multiple applications • Support production teams when design related issues arise Core Technical and Design Requirements Strong, practical experience with: • Modern design tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, or Sketch • Designing responsive web interfaces for enterprise or data rich environments • Creating wireframes, prototypes, and interaction designs • Applying established design system principles or contributing to design libraries • UI implementation concepts in modern JavaScript frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue • Accessibility standards, visual hierarchy, and user centred design principles • Working closely with engineers in cloud hosted environments Understanding of: • Application workflows, operational systems, and business critical interfaces • Backend and frontend constraints within cloud platforms such as Azure and AWS • Secure design practices and identity related user interactions Additional Requirements • Experience working in enterprise, aviation, transport, logistics, or similarly structured environments is beneficial • Familiarity with Agile or iterative delivery methodologies • Understanding of cloud application behaviour, performance considerations, and operational UI constraints • Ability to run or support user workshops, interviews, and usability sessions What Kind of Engineer Succeeds Here • Designs with purpose, clarity, and respect for real operational users • Calm, structured, and methodical when dealing with complex workflows • Values documentation, standards, and repeatability • Understands trade offs between design impact, engineering effort, speed, and security • Communicates clearly with both technical and non technical teams • Works collaboratively in cross functional cloud and application teams This opportunity is managed by Avatar International, a specialist recruitment agency.
