The hiring company is an F/S firm; its clients include VC, PE, hedge funds, family offices, and similar. Their Transaction Opinions (TO) group seeks to hire an associate.

TO is possibly the most exciting area in the valuations space, as it affects financial decisions. The work is not cyclical or recurring, either. The MD from the group best described it as a good mix of investment banking and valuations.

Responsibilities

Get involved in providing financial opinions based on a wide range of transactions, including M&A, Divestiture, Restructuring, Re-Org, Management Buyouts, LBOs, Spin-Offs, IPOs, Recapitalizations, Collateral Assessments, Shareholder Redemptions, Special Situations, Board Advisory, and related matters.

About the Team

The Transaction Opinions group is about 30, which rolls into the larger valuation practice. The team is well recognized in the industry with very strong leadership. About 75% of the work is with PE clients.

Compensation

Base in the 150-200k region (depending on skillset, experience, location) with very competitive investment banking-type bonuses.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics
• 3 to 5 years of experience in the valuation space (Big 4, 2nd tier, banks, advisory firms, and others)
• Exposure to various valuation methodologies (DCF, comparable company analysis, LBO, etc)
• Experience with previous transactions or solvency valuation opinions work is highly preferred
