About the role

Chery Automobile is a leading Chinese auto company and an international brand whose business covers more than 80 countries and regions.

For our R&D Team in Paris, we are looking for Vehicle Product Manager (R&D)

We welcome you to join a growing team of extraordinarily talented and enthusiastic people, developing tailor-made cars for the European market.

We want to work with a flexible and enthusiastic individual who will be required to support the development of our European vehicles locally as well as globally - jointly with our teams in our headquarter in China.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the full lifecycle management of passenger vehicles (ICE/HEV/PHEV/BEV), including overall planning and execution from product initiation and definition through development, iteration, and end-of-life.
  • Lead vehicle-level product requirement definition (PRD), based on user scenarios, regulatory requirements, and technical constraints, and deliver functional definitions, configuration strategies, and technical specifications.
  • Coordinate cross-functional engineering teams (body, chassis, powertrain, EE architecture, intelligent cockpit, ADAS, etc.), driving requirement decomposition and implementation, ensuring alignment of performance, cost, quality, and development timeline.
  • Participate in the full vehicle development process, lead or contribute to key decision milestones (e.g., requirement freeze, architecture review, design review, prototype validation), and drive issue resolution and continuous product optimization.
  • Establish and optimize lifecycle management mechanisms, monitor product performance in real usage, and drive product improvements (ECR/ECO), software updates, and version iterations.
  • Conduct competitive technical analysis and benchmarking, covering vehicle performance, EE architecture, intelligent features, and energy efficiency, to support product definition and technology roadmap decisions.
  • Participate in vehicle platform and modular architecture planning, driving platform reuse, architecture standardization, and implementation of Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) capabilities.
  • Interface with quality, aftersales, and customer feedback, identify systemic issues, and drive R&D-side improvements to enhance product robustness and user experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or above, preferably in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation, Software Engineering, or related fields.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the automotive industry, with experience in vehicle product management, product definition, system engineering, or vehicle development.
  • Experience in OEM or Tier1 vehicle development; familiarity with European automotive development processes and standards is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle development processes (e.g., V-model, APQP) and vehicle system architecture, including powertrain, chassis, EE systems, and intelligent systems.
  • Familiarity with ASPICE, Functional Safety (ISO 26262), and Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) architecture; project experience is a plus.
  • Strong capability in product requirement analysis, with the ability to translate user needs into engineering targets and system requirements.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to drive efficient cooperation across R&D, quality, and supply chain teams.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance technical and business considerations in complex projects.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly present product concepts and technical logic.
  • Fluent in English (mandatory); French language skills are a strong plus.

We are looking forward to your joining in our French R&D team!
