Vice President of Software Engineering

About the Company

Our client is a fintech scale-up, targeting the US banking market. They have around 50 people and are in growth mode.

About the Role

You would report to the CTO and manage a team of almost 10 people, helping with the greenfield development of a new platform and team management. It is a senior team of developers, so your role is to mentor, ensure smooth operations, and support the release of new features and products. It is a smaller team, so being hands-on from time to time is expected.

Responsibilities

• Proven experience leading and scaling engineering teams, with a strong track record of delivering smooth, reliable software releases
• Demonstrated ability to define and execute engineering strategy aligned with business objectives
• Deep understanding of modern development practices (CI/CD, automated testing, deployment pipelines) and experience optimizing engineering workflows
• Strong cross-functional leadership skills, with experience partnering closely with product, design, and business stakeholders

Qualifications

• Relevant work experience with leading smaller development teams and proficiency in the tech stack.

Required Skills

• C#, React, Node.js, JavaScript and SQL.
• Cloud deployment and delivery, including work with Azure and Docker containers.
• Experience working with Jira, Confluence and Microsoft Office tools.
• Experience in a web development environment, specifically React and Material Design, delivering white-label web products for the market.
• API integrations and microservices.
• Experience with AI tools integration like Cursor and Copilot is a MUST

Location

Most of the team is located in Vancouver. Currently, everyone is working remotely and occasionally meeting, but they will move to a hybrid model at some point, with the office in downtown Vancouver.
