AI Futures are engaged in an exclusive a search for a VP of Data Engineering. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to play a lead role in a mega transformation for one of the most profitable and ambitious industry companies in Germany.

The CEO has publicly committed to transforming the company with AI and the business are investing to solidify their position as the No.1 in their market in Europe. The organisation are at the start of their Agentic AI programme and need to create the infrastructure and platform to enable successful adoption across the business.

The Opportunity & Values

• Full ownership of designing and scaling a next-generation data platform from the ground up
• Lead the transition from legacy data warehouse environments to a modern, cloud-native architecture enabling AI at scale
• Build and scale a high-performing team (12 → 30+) within the first 12–18 months
• Shape and execute the enterprise-wide data & AI strategy for a multi-billion organisation
• Deliver on your promises, make informed decisions and prioritize to get the important things done
• Maintain resilience, take time to reflect, and seek to learn - from colleagues and the outside world.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and deliver the data platform and AI roadmap, aligned with business strategy and growth objectives
• A proven leader who can support and challenge a high‑performing engineering team
• Strong experience delivering data products in modern data platforms (SQL Warehouse & Azure Databricks Lakehouse)
• Establish data governance, architecture standards, and best practices across the organisation
• Lead the development of scalable data infrastructure to support advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI use cases
• Build and lead a high-performing data & AI organisation, including hiring, mentoring, and structuring teams
• Act as a key advisor to C-level stakeholders, translating technical capabilities into commercial impact
