VP/Director of Product Management (Loan Origination)
Creative Circle
About the role
VP/Director, Product Manager - Loan Origination
Position Overview
Our client is a large, consumer‑focused financial services organization with a national footprint, serving millions of customers through a combination of digital and branch‑based experiences. The organization operates in a highly regulated environment and is investing heavily in modernizing its core platforms to support long‑term growth, scalability, and improved customer and team‑member experiences.
This project represents our client's most critical platform transformation, a multi‑year, board‑visible reset of the loan origination ecosystem. The initiative replaces decades‑old legacy systems with a modern, scalable platform that will fundamentally change how team members serve customers.
Our client is seeking a Vice President / Director of Product Management to lead the loan‑origination transformation program. This leader will own end‑to‑end origination experiences with a strong front‑end focus, while ensuring back‑end readiness, sequencing, and delivery rigor. While overall strategy and direction are largely defined, this role is execution‑critical, requiring disciplined delivery, governance, scope management, and calm leadership in a complex enterprise environment.
- Full‑time direct hire with bonus eligibility.
- 3‑day hybrid schedule required in Wilmington, DE; New York, NY; or Baltimore, MD.
- Hands‑on experience with Loan Origination products for Consumer Lending required.
- Experience in enterprise and/or highly matrixed organizations preferred.
- Familiarity with cloud‑based architectures, modern software delivery practices, and knowledge of lending, credit, or loan‑origination processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Loan Origination Product Modernization initiative, a multi‑year, board‑visible modernization of the bank's loan origination platform (moving from 1980s‑era legacy systems to a modern platform).
- Own end‑to‑end loan origination experiences with a front‑end focus while ensuring back‑end sequencing/readiness.
- Translate strategy into execution: strategy is largely defined (~60‑80% clarity on “what” and sequencing), so the near‑term emphasis is on delivery, governance, and execution rigor.
- Partner tightly with engineering, design, analytics, and operations to drive build/launch decisions and remove blockers across organizations (tech, credit strategy & analytics, operations, design).
- Manage scope and decision‑making by applying clear frameworks to resolve competing stakeholder needs quickly and keep delivery on track.
- Guide rollout/change management as the new platform scales from pilots to broad deployment across ~1,400 branches and ~7,000 team members, impacting ~2.5 M customers.
- Shield the team from “outside noise” (executives, field/branch feedback, competing priorities), communicating calmly and logically while advocating for the team.
- Lead a high‑performing team (expected to be a culture add and earn trust quickly). Team structure: 4 direct reports + 2 contractors reporting to this person.
Qualifications
- Senior product leader (VP/Director level) with ~10+ years in product management and demonstrated people/leadership capability.
- Deep execution orientation: proven ability to run complex delivery programs, create governance, manage scope, and bring strategy to life (avoid candidates who are primarily “strategy‑only”).
- Consumer lending domain expertise (or closely related lending/origination experience) is critical.
- Large enterprise operating maturity: knows how to navigate complexity, stakeholders, and dependencies in a big organization; able to influence across functions daily.
- Technical depth + sequencing mindset: comfortable diving into details with developers and understanding the back‑end dependencies required to enable front‑end journeys.
- Change leadership and communication: able to manage operational disruption during platform transition; stays calm under pressure and uses logical/decision frameworks to align stakeholders.
- Relationship builder: invests time to earn trust with a close‑knit, high‑expectations team; open to feedback and adaptable.
- Target backgrounds: financial services institutions undergoing modernization/digital transformation (e.g., large banks); fintech is possible but may be less likely to have large‑enterprise and transformation experience.
Benefits
- Health and wellbeing options including medical, prescription, dental, vision, hearing, accident, hospital indemnity, and life insurances
- Up to 4% matching 401(k)
- Employee Stock Purchase Plan (10% share discount)
- Tuition reimbursement
- Paid time off (15 days' vacation per year, plus 2 personal days, prorated based on start date)
- Paid sick leave as determined by state or local ordinance, prorated based on start date
- Paid holidays (7 days per year, based on start date)
- Paid volunteer time (3 days per year, prorated based on start date)
