Waste Management Engineer

JPCE (Pty) Ltd is a professional engineering consultancy firm specializing in Solid Waste Management. Our office is in Brackenfell within the City of Cape Town in the Western Cape Province.

Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid role for a Waste Management Engineer.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

• ND Civil Engineering, B Tech / Adv Div Civil Engineering or B. Eng. Civil Engineering
• Minimum 8 - 10 years post-graduate experience in solid waste management / mining industry (tailings dams)
• ECSA registration not pre-requisite, but advantageous
• Hands-on experience in DTM modelling and CAD drawing production.
• Hands-on experience in BOQ and specification compilation (Tender documentation).
• Hands-on experience in construction contract management and administration.
• Hands-on experience in construction monitoring, Construction Quality Assurance (CQA) and practical problem solving on site. Having landfill or tailings dams construction experience will be considered as an advantage.
• Experience in the environmental, design and construction completion approval processes

Responsibilities

• Planning, conceptual design, detail design, specifications, procurement process (tender and adjudication phase), contract administration and project management of civil engineering projects.
• Carrying out measurements and valuations to produce accurate project schedules, quantities and valuations at all stages of a project.
• Providing project information and assistance to Project Leaders to enable effective project management.
• Construction contract documentation compilation (GCC) and procurement processes.
• Report compilation, for civil projects.
• Construction quality assurance on projects.
• Ensuring that project timelines and deliverables are met.
• Technical writing skills, with good communication and time management skills.
• Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of statutory procedures and technical standards.
• Ability to work independently, but also to function well in a team environment.
• Self-motivation.
• Soft skills required to maintain client relations.

• Must have own reliable vehicle and drivers licence for traveling to construction sites
