We are hiring a Water/Wastewater Treatment Process Engineer (Junior-Intermediate)

Position Overview

The Process Engineer (Junior – Intermediate) will work as part of the Process Design Team, supporting projects across various stages, including proposal development, conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design, as well as system testing (QA/QC) and commissioning.

The Process Engineer (Junior – Intermediate) will support the project’s process design lead, and will:

• Perform process design calculations and equipment selection.

• Develop engineering documentation, budgets, and proposals.

• Communicate with vendors and assist project managers with project coordination.

This position is based in Delta, BC, with the flexibility to work from home as project and team responsibilities allow. Travel to site may be required in some instances.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct site visits when required to collect data.

• Assist in supervising subcontractors, and inspecting work performed by others.

• Review tender documents and perform pre-project planning.

• Draft project proposals and budget estimates for clients.

• Conduct data analysis and develop project design basis.

• Conduct technology assessment / review.

• Develop preliminary and detailed process design calculations/modelling (manual and software-assisted).

• Perform equipment sizing and selection.

• Provide and collect technical data from suppliers and subcontractors.

• Sketch project drawings (P&ID’s and PFD’s) for the Mechanical Design Team.

• Contribute to developing engineering documentation such as equipment lists, control narratives, QA/QC checklists, Operation & Maintenance Manuals.

• Contribute to process-related risk assessments (e.g. HazOp).

• Assist with project purchasing when required.

• Draft technical project reports when required.

• Review relevant design codes and regulations as they relate to the project.

• Review health and safety requirements for all project tasks. Help create related health and safety documentation when required.

• Liaison with other project staff, vendors/subcontractors and client representatives as required.

• Assist with bench scale test program design.

• Conduct bench scale tests / simple jar tests in the McCue lab / field to test or optimize chemical treatment programs.

• Provide support to the Project Manager for large projects, including but not limited to drafting agendas, taking notes during meetings and drafting meeting minutes, and drafting project progress reports.

Qualifications

In addition to a valid driver’s license, applicants should have the following experience and/or qualifications:

• Chemical or Process Engineering (water/wastewater) degree and E.I.T registration or possibility to apply for E.I.T. with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia.

• 2+ years of process design, proposal and budget development experience.

• Knowledge of water and wastewater treatment technologies.

• Attention to detail and data analysis focus.

• Good communication skills including technical writing.

• Project management experience is an asset

• Hands-on laboratory experience is an asset

• Construction, commissioning, and/or operation of water treatment or similar systems is an asset

• Health & Safety, and Quality driven.

Drug testing may be required to access some project sites.
