California State University is seeking a detail-oriented and creative Web Developer I to support and maintain websites for the Division of Student Affairs and Campus Diversity. In this role, you’ll help ensure web content is accessible, user-friendly, and aligned with university standards while collaborating with campus partners to enhance digital communications and user experience.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update OmniCMS-hosted websites, including content updates and site migrations
  • Ensure websites meet accessibility, usability, and mobile responsiveness standards
  • Manage site functionality, including redirects, calendars, and integrations
  • Support newsletter and email production using Salesforce
  • Collaborate with content creators to improve site structure, navigation, and user experience
  • Ensure alignment with SDSU brand and web standards
  • Conduct accessibility reviews and implement improvements
  • Support search engine optimization (SEO) strategies, Google Analytics and best practices
  • Stay current on trends in UX, accessibility, and web design
  • Partner with IT and campus stakeholders on web projects and enhancements
  • Assist with digital initiatives, including graphics and web-related content
  • Provide guidance and support to colleagues on web tools and processes

Skills

  • Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
  • Foundational understanding of website structure, web development concepts, and general design principles
  • Familiarity with web technologies, design tools, and/or programming languages used in website development and maintenance
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate both independently and within a team environment
  • Creative problem-solving skills, adaptability, and willingness to learn new technologies
  • Experience supporting or maintaining a website and working within content management systems (CMS), including OmniCMS is preferred
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, web UX best practices, and web accessibility standards (WCAG 2.x and Section 508) is preferred
  • Experience using Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Lightroom) is preferred
