Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced WFH Technical Writer with a strong focus on Engineering & Tech Policy to join our remote team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating clear, concise, and comprehensive documentation related to our engineering processes, product specifications, and internal/external technology policies. You will work closely with engineers, product managers, legal teams, and compliance specialists to translate complex technical and regulatory information into accessible documentation for a diverse audience. This is a 100% remote position, offering flexibility and the opportunity to contribute from anywhere within the United States.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, write, and edit high-quality technical documentation, including engineering specifications, design documents, API guides, user manuals, and policy briefs.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to understand complex technical concepts and distill them into clear, accurate, and audience-appropriate content.
- Work with legal and compliance teams to document and articulate technology-related policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure all documentation adheres to established brand guidelines, style guides, and regulatory standards.
- Manage documentation lifecycle from initial draft through review, approval, publication, and maintenance.
- Proactively identify documentation needs and propose solutions to improve clarity and completeness.
- Participate in policy review meetings and provide input on clarity, accuracy, and comprehensibility of policy language.
- Maintain a consistent tone, voice, and style across all technical and policy documentation.
- Utilize content management systems (CMS) and version control tools for efficient documentation processes.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Technical Writer in a technology or engineering environment.
- Strong understanding of technical concepts, software development lifecycles, and engineering principles.
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to translate complex technical information into easily understandable content for various audiences.
- Experience with documentation tools (e.g., Confluence, GitHub, Sphinx, Markdown).
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and compliance documentation within the tech industry.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant software.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced remote environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, English, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with policy writing or legal documentation in a technology context.
- Familiarity with agile development methodologies.
- Knowledge of industry-specific technical standards (e.g., cybersecurity, data privacy).
- Experience with graphic design tools for creating diagrams and illustrations.
