About
The Workday HCM Program Manager leads enterprise‑wide Workday Human Capital Management programs, owning strategy, execution, governance, and value realization across HR technology initiatives. This role is accountable for delivering scalable, compliant, and user‑centric Workday HCM solutions that support the full employee lifecycle. The Program Manager serves as the single point of accountability for multi‑workstream HCM programs, coordinating HR, IT, Payroll, Security, Legal, and external Workday partners to ensure successful delivery and adoption.
Responsibilities
- Own the end‑to‑end delivery of Workday HCM implementations, transformations, and optimizations
- Translate HR strategy and workforce objectives into executable HCM roadmaps
- Govern multiple Workday HCM initiatives across regions and business units
- Drive standardization, process optimization, and employee experience improvements
- Ensure compliance with local labor laws, data privacy requirements, and internal controls
- Operate at both strategic and execution levels, partnering closely with HR leadership while maintaining hands‑on oversight of delivery
- Own the lifecycle of Workday HCM programs from initiation through stabilization
- Define program scope, roadmap, success metrics, and benefits realization
- Establish governance models, steering committees, and escalation paths
- Ensure alignment with HR strategy, enterprise architecture, security, and data standards
- Oversee design, configuration, testing, data migration, cutover, and deployment
- Manage dependencies across integrations, reporting, security, and HR operations
- Ensure adherence to Workday best practices while balancing business needs
- Serve as the primary interface between HR leadership, IT, Workday, and system integrators
- Manage implementation partners, AMS providers, and vendor performance
- Communicate status, risks, and outcomes to executives and HR leadership forums
- Own HCM program budgets, forecasts, and financial governance
- Track benefits, productivity gains, and ROI tied to HCM initiatives
Required Qualifications
- Experience in Workday program management
- Workday Pro certifications (HCM, Talent, Recruiting, or related areas)
- Experience leading Workday HCM programs
- Proven experience delivering enterprise or global Workday HCM implementations
- Deep functional understanding of Workday HCM and HR business processes
- Strong experience across multiple HCM modules (Core HCM mandatory)
- Experience with Workday BPF, security roles, reporting, and data governance
- Familiarity with Workday release cycles and tenant management
- Strong knowledge of Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery models
- Experience with tools such as JIRA, Smartsheet, MS Project, or similar
- Strong documentation, reporting, and analytics skills
Preferred Experience
- Experience with global or multi‑country Workday HCM rollouts
- Strong understanding of HR operations, labor laws, and data privacy (GDPR, local regulations)
- Experience with integrations to payroll vendors, benefits providers, and third‑party HR tools
- Experience leading post go‑live optimization and AMS transitions
