Job Overview

Hire Resolve is currently seeking a qualified and experienced Workshop Manager for our client in the construction industry based in Bloemfontein, Free State. As a Workshop Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the operations of the workshop, managing a team of technicians, and ensuring efficient and effective workflow. This role requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication and problem‑solving abilities, and a deep understanding of workshop management processes and procedures within the construction industry.

We are looking for a highly motivated and results‑oriented individual who will be responsible for the day‑to‑day running of the mechanical workshop and all plant and equipment, small plant and LDV’s hired out.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for budgets for the purchase of materials, fixings and fastenings and machine tools to ensure the progress of projects through the workshop
  • Management of all operators and field service technicians
  • Lead and supervise a team of technicians and administrative staff in the construction industry
  • Oversee technicians’ workload, performance, and work quality
  • Conduct necessary maintenance on construction equipment
  • Manage the inventory of vital spare parts for construction projects
  • Maintain control and ensure the standard of workshop equipment and cleanliness
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules for construction equipment
  • Establish and enforce health and safety procedures and meet ISO quality requirements for construction projects
  • Initiate and oversee critical improvement projects across all operational areas in the construction industry
  • Manage the budget for repairs and maintenance of construction equipment

Qualifications

  • Qualified Diesel Mechanic with 10 years of experience on construction plant and equipment
  • Trade tested as a Diesel Mechanic
  • At least 5 years proven experience as a Workshop Manager or in a similar management role
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management skills within the construction industry
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Sound knowledge of workshop management processes and procedures within the construction industry
  • Proficient in MS Office for reporting and documentation
  • Valid
