Summary
The Workshop Manager is responsible for all repairs, revamps, and overhauls of Marine and Power brought to the Richmond and Dartmouth facilities Responsibilities include recruiting, training, and management of indirect and direct staff; scheduling and management of workflow; cost minimization and labor productivity; technical development and execution of repair procedures and acceptance criteria; development of project-specific cost estimates and delivery schedules; quality control and assurance; compliance with all applicable federal, provincial, and local regulations; maintenance of ISO certifications including 9001, 14001, and 45001; development and maintenance of a strong safety culture; and development and maintenance of written procedures.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Efficient management of work through the shop and on-time delivery of orders
- Recruiting, selecting, developing, assigning, scheduling, coaching, and disciplining employees
- Ensuring all employees have annual goals and objectives aligned with those at a corporate level, and all employees receive a written annual performance appraisal
- Procurement, management, and inventory of all direct and indirect material used in shop operations.
- Implementation and management of quality control and assurance procedures, including recording NCRs, determining root causes, and implementing corrective actions
- Complying with Everllence policies, guidelines, standards and procedures
- Ensuring compliance with customer contracts and specifications
- Ensuring workshop machines, tooling, and other devices are well-maintained in compliance with a documented preventive maintenance program
- Establishing, monitoring, and communicating operational key performance indicators and targets
- Ensuring compliance with government regulations and applicable industry standards
- Establishing and maintaining a strong safety culture
- Establishing and maintaining documented inspection, repair, and other procedures and monitoring compliance thereto
- Establishing, tracking, and reporting key financial metrics
- Preparation and presentation of requests for new capital assets that are financially justified by business cases
- Preparation of cost estimates used for price quotations to customers
- Developing and implementing continuous improvement plans to minimize cost and maximize productivity, efficiency, productivity, capacity, and quality
Required Education
Bachelor’s degree or sufficient experience in a similar role to ensure strong, technical, organizational, and written communication skills.
Required Experience
- At least seven years professional experience in Marine industry
- Previous managerial experience
- Experience in dealing with customers and suppliers
- Familiarity with SAP and other IT systems used in the workshop
