The Reliable, Intelligent, Secure Internet-of-thINGs (RISING) Laboratory was established in 2018 and is part of the Warren B. Nelms Institute for Connected World and the ECE Department at the University of Florida. Directed by Prof. Sandip Ray, the lab focuses on advancing reliability, security, and resilience in next-generation connected computing systems and applications. RISING integrates diverse methodologies, including architecture, machine learning, synthesis, security, and formal verification, to address complex challenges. Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role located in Harrington Park, NJ for a Writer at RISING Lab. The Writer will create, edit, and manage technical and research-focused content, including research documentation, grant proposals, technical blogs, and academic publications. Responsibilities include coordinating with researchers to translate technical findings into clear, engaging narratives, conducting thorough research to support content development, proofreading materials for accuracy and consistency, and maintaining documentation standards. The Writer will also assist in the preparation of presentations and visual aids for conferences and academic forums.
Qualifications
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to create clear and concise technical content
- Experience in academic research writing, including grant proposals, technical papers, or scientific communications
- Proficiency in conducting research and synthesizing technical data into accessible formats
- Familiarity with technical concepts in fields such as Computer Science, Engineering, or related disciplines
- Ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, including researchers and technical staff
- Proficiency in tools like Microsoft Office Suite and LaTeX for document preparation
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in English, Technical Writing, Communications, Computer Science, or a closely related field
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines
- Experience with scientific visualization tools and familiarity with academic publishing platforms is a plus
